What Are Legal Status Change Alerts?
Legal status change alerts notify you immediately when the official USPTO status of a trademark you're monitoring changes. This is one of the most important alert types for trademark professionals.
When You'll Receive These Alerts
Simple rule: When your trademark's legal status changes at the USPTO, you'll receive an alert.
Common status changes include:
- Published for Opposition - Your application has been approved by the examiner and is now open for third-party opposition
- Registered - Congratulations! Your trademark is now officially registered
- Abandoned - The application has been abandoned (missed deadline, no response, voluntary)
- Office Action Issued - The USPTO examiner has questions or objections that need a response
- Cancelled - A registered mark has been cancelled
- Renewed - A registration renewal has been accepted
