Two Ways to Monitor Trademarks

GleanMark offers two complementary approaches to trademark monitoring, each designed for different use cases:

Portfolio MonitoringOwner Tracking
Track specific trademarks you add to a portfolioTrack entire companies by their USPTO owner name
Best for: Client portfolios, your own marks, competitive intelligence on specific marksBest for: Monitoring competitors, watching key clients, tracking industry players
Alerts for: Status changes, deadlines, TTAB proceedings, ownership transfersAlerts for: New filings, assignments, owner info changes, milestones, TTAB activity

Portfolio Monitoring

Create portfolios to organize and monitor specific trademarks:

  • Client Matters - Group client trademarks for easy management
  • Competitive Watch - Monitor competitor marks you're tracking
  • Your Own Marks - Keep tabs on your registered trademarks

Each trademark in a portfolio can receive alerts for:

  • Legal status changes (registration, abandonment, office actions)
  • Upcoming deadlines (renewals, statements of use, response dates)
  • TTAB proceedings (oppositions, cancellations)
  • Ownership changes (assignments, transfers)
  • Similar mark filings (new applications resembling your marks)

Owner Tracking

Track entire companies to see all their trademark activity:

  • Competitors - See when they file new applications
  • Key Clients - Stay informed of their portfolio changes
  • Industry Leaders - Monitor market trends through filings

When you track an owner, you'll receive alerts for:

  • New trademark applications filed
  • Trademarks assigned to or from the owner
  • Owner name, address, or entity type changes
  • Key milestones (registrations, renewals, abandonments)
  • TTAB proceedings involving the owner
  • Citation alerts (when their marks are cited against others)

Using Both Together

Many users combine both approaches:

  1. Track specific marks in portfolios for detailed deadline and status monitoring
  2. Track competitor companies to catch new filings early
  3. Track your own company as an owner to see all activity at a glance
